Setting Achievable Goals and Preparing for a Blessed Week

Happy Sunday! Let’s chat about setting achievable goals and getting ready for the week ahead. As a busy mom, wife, and entrepreneur, I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way!) that a little preparation goes a long way in keeping our family life running smoothly and our hearts focused on what truly matters.

First things first, let’s talk about setting achievable goals. I used to be the queen of mile-long to-do lists that left me feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. But you know what? God gently reminded me that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30). So, I’ve learned to pare down my goals to what’s truly important and achievable.

Here’s what works for me:

  1. Pray about it: Before I even pick up a pen, I spend some quiet time with God, asking for His guidance on what He wants me to focus on this week.
  2. Choose 3-5 main goals: Instead of trying to conquer the world, I pick 3-5 key things I want to accomplish. This might include a home project, a work task, or a special family activity.
  3. Break it down: For each goal, I jot down the small steps needed to make it happen. This makes big tasks feel less daunting.
  4. Be realistic: I consider my family’s schedule and energy levels when setting these goals. Some weeks are busier than others, and that’s okay!

Now, let’s talk about preparing for the week. Sunday evenings have become my favorite time for this. Here’s my simple routine:

  1. Homeschooling prep and lesson planning for the week: making sure I have the supplies needed and everything ready to go.
  2. Meal planning: I plan out our dinners for the week, which saves so much stress (and money on takeout!). I also give myself grace if something changes for our meal plans.
  3. Quick tidy-up: We all pitch in for a 15-minute house tidy. It’s amazing how much better Monday morning feels when you start with a clean slate!
  4. Lay out Monday’s clothes: This simple step makes our mornings so much smoother.
  5. Devotional time: We end our Sunday evening with a short Bible story and prayer.

Remember, friends, the goal isn’t perfection – it’s progress. Some weeks will go according to plan, and others won’t. But that’s okay! God’s grace is sufficient, and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

What about you? Do you have any tips for setting goals or preparing for the week? I’d love to hear them!
