You know, it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, especially as busy moms and entrepreneurs. But taking time to be thankful can really turn your day around!
I remember when I first started really focusing on gratitude. It was during a tough time in our lives, and honestly, it felt a bit forced at first. But you know what? The more I practiced, the more natural it became. Now, it’s like a reflex – I find myself thanking God for the little things throughout my day.
Here are some simple ways I’ve found to cultivate gratitude:
1. Start a gratitude journal: Every night before bed, I jot down three things I’m thankful for. Some days it’s big stuff, other days it’s as simple as “my morning coffee was really good today!”
2. Pray with thanksgiving: When I pray, I always try to start by thanking God for His blessings. It sets the tone for my conversation with Him.
3. Share your gratitude: Tell your kids, your spouse, or a friend something you appreciate about them. It spreads joy and makes you more aware of the good things in your life.
4. Look for the silver lining: When things go wrong (and they will!), try to find something positive in the situation. It’s not always easy, but it’s a game-changer.
5. Create a gratitude jar: Write down things you’re thankful for on little slips of paper and put them in a jar. On tough days, pull a few out and read them.
6. Practice mindfulness: Take a moment to really notice the good things around you – the warmth of the sun, the laughter of your kids, the taste of your food.
7. Use visual reminders: I have little sticky notes around my house with Bible verses about thankfulness. They catch my eye throughout the day and remind me to pause and be grateful.
Remember, gratitude isn’t about ignoring the hard stuff. It’s about choosing to focus on the good, even when life gets tough. As 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
