Today, I want to chat about developing a consistent prayer habit. You know, as busy moms and entrepreneurs, it’s so easy to let our prayer time slip away. But I’ve found that when I make time to talk to God regularly, everything else just falls into place.
I’ll be honest, it wasn’t always easy for me. There were days when I’d fall into bed exhausted, realizing I hadn’t said more than a quick “Thank you, God” all day. But over time, I’ve found some ways to make prayer a natural part of my daily routine.
Here are some tips that have helped me:
- Start small: Don’t feel like you need to pray for hours right away. Even just 5 minutes a day is a great start!
- Find your time: For me, early morning works best. I love sipping my coffee and talking to God before the kids wake up. But maybe you’re a night owl – find what works for you!
- Create a prayer space: It doesn’t have to be fancy. Just a comfy chair and maybe your Bible and journal can help signal your brain it’s prayer time.
- Use a prayer journal: Writing down your prayers can help you focus and it’s amazing to look back and see how God has answered them!
- Pray throughout the day: I love to say little prayers while I’m doing dishes or folding laundry. It turns chores into worship!
- Use reminders: I have alerts on my phone to remind me to pause and pray at certain times of the day.
- Involve your kids: Praying together as a family can be such a beautiful bonding experience.
Remember, prayer isn’t about saying the right words or praying for a certain amount of time. It’s about connecting with God, our loving Father. As 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.” That doesn’t mean we’re on our knees 24/7, but that we’re always in conversation with God.
Don’t get discouraged if you miss a day or if your mind wanders during prayer. God knows your heart and He’s just happy to hear from you!
I’d love to hear about your prayer habits! What helps you stay consistent? Share in the comments below and let’s encourage each other in this journey!
