Learning to Wait with God in a Busy Season

Advent invites us into a posture that doesn’t come naturally to most of us: waiting.

Not rushing.
Not fixing.
Not striving.
Just waiting with expectation and trust.

This season of waiting has looked very real for our family lately.

Over the last few days, several unexpected things came up. Our car needs new tires. A brake line went out suddenly, and in what could have been a dangerous situation, God protected my husband. On top of that, other unplanned expenses surfaced, the kind that instantly tighten your chest and make you start mentally rearranging numbers.

It would be easy to let fear take over. Easy to spiral into “what ifs.” Easy to feel overwhelmed.

But Advent gently pulls my heart back to truth.

Waiting Is Not Wasted

Waiting with God is never wasted time. It is sacred space where He works not only in our circumstances, but in us.

Waiting teaches us to loosen our grip.
Waiting exposes where we try to control.
Waiting reminds us that we are not self-sufficient.

When things break down, finances feel tight, or plans change unexpectedly, it is a reminder that our security has never been found in what we own or how prepared we feel. It has always been found in Him.

God Is Still Providing, Even Here

The same God who sent His Son into the world at just the right time is still working in perfect timing today.

He protected my husband when something could have gone very wrong. That alone is a gift beyond measure. And I am choosing to trust that the God who watched over us last night will continue to provide what we need in the days ahead.

Advent reminds us that God often works quietly. Not always with immediate answers, but with steady faithfulness.

Waiting with Hope Instead of Fear

Waiting well does not mean pretending everything is easy. It means bringing the worry, the fear, the questions, and the unknowns directly to God and choosing trust anyway.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.”
Lamentations 3:25 (ESV)

This season has reminded me that waiting can be an act of worship. Saying, “Lord, I don’t see how this will work out, but I trust You.”

An Invitation This Advent Season

If you are waiting this season, waiting for provision, healing, clarity, or peace, you are not forgotten.

God is near in the waiting.
God is working in the unseen.
God is faithful even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

May this Advent season teach us to wait with courage, to trust with open hands, and to remember that the One we are waiting on has always been faithful.
