There is something sacred about looking back before stepping forward.
When I started praying about my word for 2026, I did not hear anything loud or flashy. No big declarations. No push to do more or become more. Instead, I felt an invitation.
An invitation to stay.
Abide.
And the more I reflect on where God has brought me from, the more I realize how intentional this word truly is.
🌱 The Story My Words Have Told
Each year, God has quietly shaped my heart through a single word. At the time, I could not see the full picture, but now the story is undeniable.
2020: Vision
God opened my eyes. He planted seeds, sparked dreams, and revealed glimpses of calling. It was a year of seeing what could be.
2021: Surrender
Vision required release. Letting go of control. Trusting Him with the unknown and loosening my grip on how things “should” look.
2022: Intentional
After surrender came choice. Living on purpose. Saying yes to alignment and no to autopilot. Moving with intention instead of pressure.
2023: Growth
Growth stretched me. Pruned me. Taught me patience. It was uncomfortable at times, but necessary. Becoming rarely happens without tension.
2024: Abundance
This was a surprising one. Even in seasons that felt tight, God showed His provision, fruit, and faithfulness. Abundance did not always look like excess, but it always looked like enough.
2025: Flourish
Flourishing came after deep roots. Life and beauty growing even in hard soil. Proof that God brings fruit from faithfulness, even when the seasons are heavy.
Looking back, the progression is clear.
Seeing.
Releasing.
Choosing.
Growing.
Receiving.
Flourishing.
And now comes the next invitation.
🌿 Why Abide for 2026
Abide feels like a pause and a promise all at once.
2026 does not feel like a year of striving forward. It feels like a year of remaining. Of staying rooted. Of drawing life from the source instead of forcing outcomes.
Abiding is not inactivity.
It is intimacy.
It is dependence.
It is trust.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” John 15:4
This year, I am not chasing fruit. I am staying connected to the Vine.
🤍 What Abide Looks Like in Real Life
Abide is about living from connection instead of performance.
It looks like:
- Rest instead of hustle
- Presence instead of pressure
- Fruit that comes naturally
- Trusting God to do the work I was never meant to carry
It means my parenting flows from time with Him.
My marriage stays rooted in Him.
My finances rest in His provision.
My health is stewarded, not obsessed over.
My content comes from obedience, not algorithms.
Abide reminds me that I do not need to prove my worth. I need to remain where life flows freely.
🌸 A Word for This Season of Life
This word feels especially tender in motherhood, postpartum healing, and homeschooling. It feels right as I navigate slower mornings, interrupted schedules, and unseen work.
Abide is choosing to be with Jesus before doing anything for Him.
It is trusting that fruit grows quietly.
That roots matter more than results.
That faithfulness will always outlast frenzy.
🕊 A Prayer for 2026
“Lord, help me remain rooted.
Help me stay close when the world tells me to speed up.
Help me trust You to produce fruit as I stay faithful in the small things.
Teach me to abide.”
If your heart feels weary, overwhelmed, or tired of striving, maybe this word is for you too.
Not more effort.
Not more pressure.
Just deeper roots.
Abide.
