Anemia & Pregnancy

Dealing with severe anemia during pregnancy is a journey that brings its own set of challenges and triumphs. Anemia can make you feel exhausted, as if you’re running a marathon, only you’re doing it every single day without rest. The daily battle involves combating overwhelming fatigue, feeling light-headed, and at times, even breathless.

Everyday activities, from cooking a meal to playing with your kids, can become monumental tasks. It’s not just physical; the emotional toll is significant too. There’s a constant worry about your health and your baby’s, adding a layer of stress to an already taxing situation.

While I’m passionate about holistic health and finding natural supplements to support my wellness during pregnancy, I recognize that there are times when traditional treatments like iron infusions are necessary. Infusions can be daunting, especially if needles aren’t your favorite, but they can offer much-needed relief and energy, helping you get back on your feet faster.

Tips and Encouragement

1. **Prioritize Rest**: Listen to your body. Take breaks and rest whenever you need to. It’s important to conserve energy for yourself and your baby.

2. **Nourishing Diet**: Focus on iron-rich foods like spinach, lentils, and lean meats, coupled with vitamin C-rich foods to enhance absorption.

3. **Seek Support**: Lean on family and friends for help with daily tasks and emotional support. You’re not in this alone.

4. **Mindfulness and Relaxation**: Practice gentle yoga or meditation to help manage stress and keep a positive mindset.

Remember, this is a temporary phase, and it’s okay to seek medical treatments like iron infusions when necessary. Embrace the support systems around you, both natural and medical, to help you through.

Each step you take is a testament to your strength and dedication to your health and your baby’s well-being. Hang in there; brighter days are ahead!

    1. It has been a journey. This is on top of the 3 fibroids I have also. Learning to navigate it all. But just shopping for groceries or trying to cook a meal takes everything out of me. It has been hard, I walked a 10k last year and now can’t breathe walking down the hallway. But God is good and hopefully the soon to be iron infusions will help.

  1. During one of my pregnancies, I was anemic, and the pills they prescribed made me sick, so I stopped taking them. Instead, I had a cereal that’s high in iron every morning for breakfast and my levels went up to good number.
Once I was done having babies, I ended up being severely anemic because my periods got super heavy. I had to have iron infusions which worked within a few days, and I felt SO MUCH better. Oh, the things we go through! lol

    1. I am using a Moringa supplement that helps with Iron and has Vitamin C and have found 1 supplement that doesn’t make super sick that most iron over the counter did. It has vitamin c in it too which I am learning helps a lot. So hopefully the infusions will help more immediately and then the supplements will continue to help. I have dealt with extreme morning sickness too so been a challenge of when to take what and keep it in 😂 Thanks for sharing. It is definitely all worth it though.
